National Poetry Month Poem

Hope has left me,

Hope for the future,

Hope for mankind,

Hope for everything;

It's something that not many understand,

And even fewer accept as valid,

But I see these events that affect us all,

And I see the lies that are fed to the populous,

And the indoctrination ensues;

How can we prevent the oncoming darkness?

Can we even prevent it?

Or is prevention the most dangerous illusion of all?
