sometimes it’s best to be taken by surprise

happiness.

a cautious thing to recall;

once you feel it in your heart,

away again it's sure to fall.

what's happy is a facade,

but the joy is quite real.

I can't possibly give a definition

of what happiness is to feel.

like a dip in the pool

on a hot summers day,

relaxing and writing,

some might even say.

happiness is unlost

(but never quite found)

happiness is you and me

hand and hand in a small town.

happiness comes from the gut

it's brilliant and bright

like a spotlight on what is good

after sadness takes flight.
