Rune Bear

It was thirty years since they last saw one. They all were in awe and disbelief. This huge, beautiful, and shiny creature who glowed dimly from afar. “We all saw them killed by the hands of the Arbitrators”said some .

Among the crowds, there was that little boy who was holding his father’s arm, and demanding an explanation to what was happening.He bombarded his father with all kinds of questions“What is this creature dad ? is it a monster? is this the one who killed mom?”asked the child incessantly “ It’s a Rune bear son” said the father“it’s not a monster, and no it did not kill your mother, actually your mother died defending his kin against the Arbitrators”.

“Who are the Arbitrators ?” said the child angrily “They were bad people who didn’t want these mystic creatures to exist” replied the father. “ But why?!they‘re so beautiful and they don’t seem to do any harm to anyone” said the child “ Yeah you’re right, but they gave people power, and that wasn’t a good thing for the Arbitrators” replied the father “What was that power ?” said the boy “They endowed people with literacy” the father said

“literacy?!”said the boy while looking at his father as if he was speaking another language “ yeah son literacy, it’s the power to gain knowledge and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others” “ can anyone have this power now ?” “ you’re mother used to have it, she used it for good deeds” “ Will I be like my mother ? I want to be like her” It might give it to you one day but you need to prove yourself worthy first ”“and how do I prove myself?”
