The Disguised

As children, we're taught

To fear the night

Where monsters dwell

With deadly bite.

Hunting and prowling

In shadows deep

While we rest behind locks,

Safe, asleep.

Never taught to fear

The beasts within,

Monsters disguised

Wrapped up in skin.

Beware the humans

With demented hearts

Because not all monsters

Dwell in the dark.
