Figments
The unbridled bridge between my brain
I can not cross with my heart, unless hoping to die
As the eternal unrest stirs waves untamed
It is long overdue, a useless fight i'll never win
The beasts, they live in the four corners of my mind
Cross the bridge, paying no toll
I am in debt to the troll under the bridge
They meet in the center; balancing on my spine
Hopping from one foot to another, playing hopscotch the way I did as a child
Their taunting me with memories that haunt me
I am crippled as they converse, speaking their mind
Harsh words are spat, it’s venom dripping down
My bloodstream is tainted by their cruel words
As it circulated through my body I realize I am damned
To be held hostage by figments
