My Everything

I want to tell you about someone I met

Someone I didn't know I knew until now

She walked into my world as I sat alone at

A table meant for two

She smiled and I cried

When I saw her face because

I had forgotten her, and

I missed her so, but

She just put a finger to my lips and giggled

And then she asked

“Where is the food?”

I had been drinking, not eating

For it was a table meant for two and

I could drink for two but

Eat for none

But right then I knew I couldn't say it or

she would be sad

So I put away my cold white and

called for a warm red and

A Kobe and

The most beautiful angel hair

For her

With her there, we were two at a table for two

Laughing the night away as we fed each other pieces of steak on silver forks and

Ate the same strand of pasta ending with

A kiss

Every time she looked at me with that smile my

Heart skipped a beat

The other day we were driving

And she rolled down the window to let the wind

Blow her hair in my face

Its touch like dewdrops and

Lighter than the breeze and

Smelling of roses

Too soon we finished our journey

She jumped out of the car and bounded before me while

All I could do was watch her dance with the flowers and the birds

And I remember the

Meadow by my village hometown

So perfect and untouched just

Like her

And I want to take her there

When she saw I was not following she

Took my hand and led me, laughing

Through the fields

We came to a spring deep

It went into the heart of the earth

I could not swim but

She looked at me with a mischievous grin and

I found myself in the water

Holding tight to

Her hand

Splashing and playing and laughing.

Every time I caught her smile my

Heart skipped a beat

That night I held her close afraid to

Let go

And dreamed she was with me

Floating in the heavens

Dancing on the clouds

So puffy white and bright

I should have woken up but

She kept me dancing and when she

Looked into my eyes with such sorrow and longing

I could not turn away

Or I knew I would see

Her tears

So we danced and laughed and cried tears of joy just for being together

My broken heart and I.
