How was heaven?

It was her first Christmas

She sought to breathe foreign air

On that night, many other things happened

Apart from she accepting gifts from the likeness

Of Budha and Saturn, the likeness of Iblis and heaven

From Israfil and Eden

Her beloved was in his reverie

Gathering ideas on what gifts he should shower her

He would think of a mirror as large as the ocean

He would think a portrait of her as large as Neptune

He would settle and resettle on a star other than the sun,

That would cease the intrusion of the moon upon her soul.

When he settles and sees how unusual the idea is

He would gallop like a horse about to find the water of life

And the next moment

Chant like a traditional priest about to make sacrifice unto his deity

Until dawn passed and the day ended

Life is full of lovers who will engage in false romance

They make bold moves

Bite our necks

Stimulate our nipples

Until after we are about to reach heaven

They drop us unto earth

Wear our clothes

After which they ask you

How was heaven?

Sometimes they dream that they have sacrificed themselves,

Their soul on our behalf

But the lover speaks

No,

I am breathless

I am choked with smoke

Not from the burning of your desire to touch my soul

Instead,

From the burning of my soul to stop loving you
