First Snow of Winter

Skeleton trees reach for the sky

Flurries of white from the clouds fly

Crystalline iciness caresses my face

The air envelops me in a cold embrace

Silence surrounds me like I’m alone in the world

Darkness encompasses me as snowflakes are pearled

Welcoming the cold there I lay

The first snows of winter were here to stay
