Ancient Ties

The heavy rain poured down onto the sacred grounds of the dense Amazon forest. The absolute darkness of the cloudy skies were assaulted by the flashes of the constant lightning, the ear shattering sound making the ground and the trees tremble with great immensity. Along with the loud thunderstorm the coherent humming of the tribe of women took over, chanting around a massive fire that even the heaven's heavy downpour couldn’t extinguish. There was an opening in the dense forest, a random one that no one would be able to find it. The area was heavily trapped and was bound by the black magic of the tribe. There were sixty-six trees surrounded the opening, each had a slain warrior from Crete chained to it. The golden chains were wrapped around the throats, torsos and the legs of the warriors. Some were still clenching onto their weapons with their lifeless bodies, stained with blood and dirt. The fresh warm blood trickled down from their wounds into the perfectly placed golden bowls at the bottom of their feet. By each slain body there stood a maiden covered in all white almost see through linen, covering the face and the body completely from head to toe, flaring around freely by the feet. On the opposite sides of the fire three maidens were banging on the drums in unity. The sound of it ringing through the ears of the dancers by the fire, dancing to the rhythm of the drums in the rain, mindlessly with eyes rolled back. The thirty-three chosen dancers’ faces and bodies were covered in symbols with red clay that represented the fallen one. The dancers were swaying with the freshly ripped peacock feathers.

There she was, sitting on the throne fully clothed in her black iron armour with raven feathers implanted on the shoulders. She was sitting and watching the ritual take place with an unfazed yet serious face. Her long red hair that matched the colour of the fire was in a high ponytail. She got up from her seat, stood tall with her lean strong body and placed her scythe on her back. The dancing maidens started to drop to the floor one by one with foaming mouths. She started walking closer to the fire, completely focused on it as the bodies fell around her. The fire now was popping with much intensity and the drumming got louder. She raised her right hand in the air and a black dense smoke burst out of the mouths of the impaled warriors with a loud inhuman screams mixed with growls. Her lip curved into a satisfied smirk as the smoke swirled aggressively around the circle. A shadow that was taller and larger than the trees in the forest formed in the fire pit. The earth started to shake, the rain stopped but the lightning storm continued. Silhouette of the conjured one appeared in between the flames, half human half demon with horns. Even Cain wouldn’t dare to walk along side with the one.

"Noli respicere post tergum. Et ne abscondas," said the one. Don't look back, don't try to hide.

The maidens rose one by one and started reciting the song that was forbidden for decades.

"The lightning struck

Across the dark cloudy skies

Exposing the lonely rocky hill

Who took lives

With sweaty palms

And a naive heart

Climbed up the dirty hill

For his demise

His only wish,

He said was to bring back

His lover at once

Little did he know

Fate had a twisted little surprise

Dropped his small brown pouch on the ground

The fresh cold breeze welcomed him with open arms

Shiver went up his spine

As he tripped over a rock

Slicing up his knee

Three blood drops on the ground

The wind stopped roaring

As he got up

His body as heavy as the mountains around

He went over to the edge

As she rose up in mid air

Head tilted with piercing eyes

His heart pounding heavy in his chest

His face bursting with heat like a burning furnace

His eyes as wide as hers

His body paralyzed

With the visions of his loved one

His arms resting on his sides

The wicked one smiled

Sharp teeth exposed

The smell of sulphur took over

Making him cough

He came back to reality

Throwing himself at his pouch

He opened it and a blonde clump of hair fell out

I will give you what you want

He yelled, voice cracked, throat dry

I want my love back in exchange of her blood

A tear rolled down from his left eye

Making the wicked one smile

Her eyes never left his presence since she rose up

She is young

He said as he frantically searched his pocket

A picture fell out

Blonde curly locks and brown doll like eyes

Skin as fair as milk

And a smile that could make angels cry

The wicked one raised her hand

And started bleeding in black

Still floating

Defying logic

On an unholy night

She opened her mouth

As she spoke the ground trembled

You with the naive heart

Will sacrifice your own blood sister

For your once loved one

The sound of approval left his trembling lips

And with a blink of an eye

His throat sliced open

Body scattered on the ground

Blood started dripping from her claws

Eyes wide open

Smiling from side to side

Clawing at his body

Like a lion attacking his prey

Violently

Ripping off his flesh chunks at a time

Eyes glowing red

Matching the blood

The sounds of flesh ripping and deep rumbling

Echoed through the mountains

Into the night

He tasted sweet

But even sweeter than before when she was his loved one

He should’ve known

When something is too good to be true

There is always devil in the details

She walked back to the edge of the hill

Leaving footprints made out of blood

Now she has his damned soul

She already had his heart

She will claim

The beautiful young vessel

To lure her next prey

She smiled and jumped off the cliff

To move onto the next one."

Conjured from the black ash, it stood, materialized in full human body with dark red eyes and skin glowing like the moon with an off grey colour. Her smirk is a beginning to an end of this humankind.
