Twilight, and the ocean breaks

Feels the weight of her mistakes

Remembers tides of long ago

The people she's tossed to and fro. 

Too many people have been lost, 

She thinks too much of what it costs

To feel this burden on her shore

Tens of millions, maybe more. 

Tsunamis, waves, so many dead

She shudders, full of regret

Uncontrolled, she tries to sit still

But waters burst forth for another kill.
