The Girl That Could Fly

She was a girl that wanted to fly.

So she spread her wings

and took off soaring,

high into the sky

until she could touch the clouds.

The same misty forms

that had once seemed

way beyond her reach.

Her large majestic wings

beat the wind gently,

keeping her on a smooth path.

As she glided through the air

she looked down below her

to see how far she had come

in the long time it had taken her

to achieve this position.

The sun hung overhead,

but closer than before.

It shined upon her,

basking her in its glorious glow.

Warming her skin

and providing its light as guidance,

as she navigated her way through

the vast expanse of blue.

A slight breeze carried her along,

blowing gently in the same direction.

It caressed her skin as it slid over her,

whipping her hair behind her

as it aided her on her way.

For so long, she had wanted

to be up here among the birds.

For so long, she had worked

to achieve this height.

For so long, she had waited

for her dream to come true.

Suddenly, the wind picked up,

blowing in the opposite direction.

The sun had disappeared,

hidden behind dark gloomy clouds.

Rain started pouring down,

accompanied by lightning,

Loud claps of thunder vibrating

her body down to the bone.

She started falling

amidst all the chaos,

steadily losing altitude.

But she kept on flapping her wings,

in pure desperation,

she never stopped.

Until finally, the storm cleared

and she was still alive,

still flying, slowly but steadily

gaining back her height.
