Do you remember the tales told to you as a child by your elders? Perhaps fables or mythology native to your region or country of origin? Take fragments of those stories to incorporate into an updated or new story (or poem!) of your own. Tag me, if you wish. #clevermonkeytales

The Fall of Icarus

Her heart made of glass

My wings made of wax

I tried to fly

Tried to fly near her

Her face so warm

Her place so far

Away from mine

Yet still I tried to reach her

They say

The higher the climb

The higher the fall

And I fell for love

And that's the highest fall of all

Heart strings

Broken hopes

And melted wings

They fell from above

And washed away with the sea

And sometimes she'd shine

And sometimes she'd hide

Away from me

Yet still I tried to reach her

But wings made of wax

Weren't made to last

So here I'll stay

Here I'll stay beneath her

They say

The higher the climb

The higher the fall

And I fell for love

And that's the highest fall of all

Heart strings

Broken hopes

And melted wings

They fell from above

And washed away with the sea

And sometimes she shines

And sometimes she hides

So here I'll lie

Beneath the sea

Beneath the sea
