The reason "only" is so close

to "lonely" is by letter replacement and 

omission. 

Instead of suffering with you,

I'd rather take that "L"

and be alone, and, hell, even if I take another "L" I'll still be a-one.

Don't mistake only for lonely,

'cause as long as I'm loving myself,

I'll never be lonely.
