Shame of the Betrayer

Pain a snake constricting my heart,

surely soon death will collect my soul.

Betrayal the poison tearing me in two,

I the betrayer have chosen this years ago.

A lie held to avoid the inevitable pain,

has turned into a bitter blackened snow.

Covering my world with cold sorrow.

Will ever my eyes behold real joy again?

My heart has really loved only one,

yet my lust has craved another.

Weakness in a lustful moment years ago

kept hidden to delay what I feel today.

My eyes have beheld the one I did not love,

shattering the heart of my one beloved.

Oh death, swallow up this wretched man.

I no longer deserve to take in this air.

God, I am full of despair, darkness covers me.

Restore what I have broken beyond repair.

The heart of the betrayer is poured out,

desolate, broken, deserving of pain alone.
