The most masterfully written piece, as voted and determined by the Prose team, will be crowned winner and receive $100. Quality beats quantity, always, but numbers make things easier for our judges, so share, share, share with friends, family, and connections. #ProseChallenge #getlit #itslit

Corruption

He walks around darkness following, the men hide, the women cry, and the children dare not speak a word. The world has tipped into a hole of chaos, trees die, crops dare not grow, the rain doesn't fall all in fear of the king. He kills any one or anything that gets in his way, legend has it he tore open a young boy who didn't get away quick enough. An evil grin ever present on his face as he looks around in joy, a world spread with anarchy, no rules to protect those weaker than him, no rules prohibiting him from using all of his power. Walking into the castle, past the frightened staff and into the throne room, his black boots making echos with every step he takes, his cape stained with blood and dirt drags behind him as he makes his way to the throne. He sits down and smiles, nothing made a world seem so peaceful to him, the only peace of mind he wanted, all he wanted was corruption.
