Lets shed some reality on mental illness. It's not cute, it's not a joke and it's not an excuse: Write about a panic or anxiety attack. I'd love to see poetry, short stories and glimpses into who you are.

Breathe

Can't breathe,

Walls are suddenly closing in on me

My vision is blurred and I'm losing my focus

'Help me I'm suffocating!' I cry out,

But no one can hear me

They're just staring at me

My heart is bursting out of my chest

Bum-bump-bum-bump....

I'm about to faint,

I can't breathe in this enclosed space,

My body feels like it's burning hot

Am I slowly dying?

Then I hear a voice say 'Just breathe

Let it out slowly.'

I listen to the voice and I let out a deep breath

And after a while my vision returns

And my heart beats slows down

The earth stops spinning from underneath me

Now I can breathe.
