An unraveled perspective
Chapter 8 of 21

Five Minutes

Obscurity yawned

With its charcoal mass

An endless mouth

Gaping and tempting

As I fell from the glass dropper

A raindrop trailing

Like an acid trip

Falling into a kaleidoscope

It was a mirrored rabbit hole

With crushed velvet aisles

And a rolling tongue with

Aromatic sounds

Gracing and nullifying

And losing myself

Along walkways

Leading to walkways

In circles and

Dead end roads

And then they began again

Splitting flesh into fours

With hind legs and

A deep crouch

I was crushed under the thumb of God

My remnants smeared and

Nowhere waited

Between an alter and

The panes of stained glass

Hanging by a line

Off my capsized boat

Fishing for treasures

In a river of fool's gold

Dancing with the dead and

Entertaining the beasts

My anticipation and

My hunger

My silent cries for help

Under my eyelids of pewter

Isolation begged for mercy

Tracing an underworld

Of vast desolation

The floor models and

Portraits of dogs

Holding umbrellas in the sun

Watching time pass away

Without warning or empathy

Diseased by humanity and

Knotted hope

The seaman's noose

Unraveled with despair

For faces grey

Like city gutters and

Spirits sewered with waste

They scurried with fear and

Shattered like glass

And I swept their remains

And crawled into their wreckage

Darkness unfolded and

Awareness was panhandled

Faith left me widowed

My gut carved like a roast

And morbidity clung to me

Like a morose feral cat
