Challenge
Okay Prosers, this challenge is very close to my heart. I was talking to one of my dear friends the other day who is blind. She never complains about it and is always laughing and a ray of sunshine but on this day she confessed that she was feeling down. "It's just darkness all the time," she said. Said it twice. Her words cut me to the core. I wanted to say something, anything by way of empathy, but mostly I wanted to paint her sight back somehow. Calling all painters, poets, and word magician

The Blind Seer

I am blind

Darkness my companion

All the time

I may not see

The azure blue

Of sky and sea

But I smell green

In rain soaked grass

Washed summer clean

I may not view

The velvet rose's

Scarlet hue

But I can taste

The purple storm

Feel North blow on my face

I cannot gaze

Into your amber eyes

Through this opaque haze

But I can hear

Your heartbeat

Singing in my ear

Unhindered by temporal sight,

My heart perceives immortal

Beyond this fog of night

The melodies I hear

Paint views I alone can see

Those depths inside of you

Because blind, I am a Seer

Written in honor of the blind and “disabled” who've taught me to see and feel.
