Cats

Slender

Sleek

And sly

Nose and tail in the air

As the cat walks by

Hunter

Cool

And calculated

Looking for its prey

Not to eat simply to play

Cruel

Merciless

And skilled

Claws deep inside what it has killed

-----

Loving

Sweet

And loyal

All cuddled up in bed

Laying up on your shoulders nearly on your head

Handsome

Sleek

And beautiful

Large eyes following you

Watching everything you do

Sitting

Waiting

And crying

Needing you to come back home

Hating the feeling of being alone

Writer’s Block

You tell yourself you have writer's block

But the truth is

There's too many feelings

You aren't willing to put down on paper

Christmas

I stare at the plastered smiles

On faces I have come to recognize

As we open our presents,

Wishing each other a

"Merry Christmas."

We all have secrets and sorrows

We keep hidden from one another,

But today, we act fine,

as if nothing is wrong.

Madam Superiority

From the girl with

The frizzy hair and

Five dollar trash bag

Of red tag special

Thrift store sweaters

Oh, my dear Superiority

How you still manage

To intimidate me

I'll never know

But I recognize you

Sitting there

In your crushed red velvet and

Platinum plated chair

I see you wore your ripped jeans today

They pair nicely with

Your unmistakable

Arrogance veiled in Chanel No.5

Look at you, Honey

In your four-inch Armani heels

The way you walk

Just a little taller than us lowly wee grubs

Darling Superiority

I know you well

You reek of intentions

Beyond that which you expel

And what you do

So much more splendid than anyone else

You expect us to tell you, though

With a toe kiss and spit shine

The words you spill

Are always laced in

Don Perignon and

Ulterior motives

And you'll pour us a glass

Just for fun

In your delicate crystal

With long stemmed judgement

Entertainment is what we are

Those of us who

Weren't born with

Clever cloaks

But you won't laugh wildly

In the company of us

We are only deserving

Of deceptive chuckles

You see, sweetheart

It is not the silk scarf

The chateau extraodinaire

That holds your majesty

Hands folded gracefully

In lap

Legs crossed

Chin forward

It is all body and mind

Eyes cast downward

With your slimy half-grin

A snicker

Waiting for us to give you

A little bit of something

That makes you feel

A head above

You will lose this

Day-to-day

And find yourself

In need of renew

So you'll seek it again

And we all crawl to you

Our queen

The comrade we seek

We will drown you in compliments

Clambering for approval

Your lost lambs

We must handfeed you your ego

Without understanding why

We return to our

Dank corners and gallows

To cut off our own heads

And cry for your blessings

catastrophic winds like vagrant love.

thrash the heavens and bring the blood stained seats

of a Chevy truck to full view.

"Old Maids" sit silent in the night

against theh backdrop of hate and angst

holding on to the guilt of a time before life

found your lungs and your veins.

"I don't forgive" She says and I laugh at it all

A block over to the North I hear the howl of

a chained dog. I laugh at the irony of it all.

Shackled and chained he rages on.

Snow is falling and I shake my head

against the chill of the night air.

"I need a savior, you whore."

an unspoken prayer to the nothingness of the night.

I crack a Stella with a Bic and it's you

overwhelming and at my back

"you let me down," you say.

but youre no where to be seen.

a distant ghost in the distant clouds

It's just me and the memory of you and

a dog barking a block over...or two...

"This isn't my house," I think.

But it might as well be...

tonight i'll fall asleep in the bathroom floor

too drunk too care and too far gone to

respect your words.

i'll be cold and i'll be alone

but bitch i'll have my pride

a miniscule moment where I am me

on the cold tiles of Dogwood Trail.

"Fuck you" I say. more to myself than you.

it's been too long. too much distance

too much pain. my broken Aphrodite

"the wall is thine..."

crawling home, impossibly slow

reality twists in the night

squinting eyes, can't even see

the road through the rain and the light

For My Tiniest Jellybean

There is a hole in my tummy

a way to big black hole

I whisper:

Hi I'm here it's Mummy...

But you won't answer me at all

Now...

There is a hole in my heart

My tiny fragile heart

I Whisper:

You can sleep here...

So we'll never be a part

Small and clear

Teardrops falling

All tiny bits

A hug for the cold day

This is the rain to me

Companion,

A gentle friend

With a hot cup of tea

A book to save the hour

Today, I moved

The day I tried to make the first move

Spiders crawled their way my body

But, at the end of my invitation

You didn't and wouldn't seem to follow through

It wasn't such a big deal for the sun still set

The moon took over the dark sky

Life continued without any fuss

Yet, I sank to the ground and stopped

Today,

You might never know

How I put on a maskFake courage with every nod

"I never saw a millennial not sorry for itself. A social media addict will drop frozen dead from a bough before ever forgetting to upload a daily trout-pout image of itself."

This was an early draft of D.H. Lawrence's famous poem, but he thought it was too ahead of its time.
